چکیده
Background Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is one of the autosomal recessive disorder caused by an enzyme deficiency or defect in one of five enzymatic steps which are required for the biosynthesis of adrenal steroid. CAH could be a medical and social crisis, and especially in South Sumatera, Indonesia it is also associated with cultural problems. Natural history of CAH without treatment can cause death due to loss of salt crisis unless it can be detected and treated early.

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia and Schmid Metaphyseal Chondrodysplasia in a Child
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of hereditary diseases, which are autosomal recessive. CAH occurs due to defect in one of the cortisol coding genes and often clinically presents itself with signs of androgen overproduction. In this article, we report a case of CAH and Schmid metaphyseal dysplasia. Our literature review indicated that this report is the first attempt on CYP11B1 a...
متن کاملA Case of Bilateral Testicular Tumors Subsequently Diagnosed as Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Due to 21-Hydroxylase Deficiency
21-hydroxylase deficiency (21-OHD) caused congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of autosomal recessive genetic disorders resulting from mutations in genes involved with cortisol (CO) synthesis in the adrenal glands. Testicular adrenal rest tumors (TARTs) are rarely the presenting symptoms of CAH. Here, we describe a case of simple virilizing CAH with TARTs, in a 15-year-old boy. The p...

In this study the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of congenital adrenal hyperplasia were evaluated prospectively in 47 patients admitted in Imam Reza Hospital in Mashhad during a 4 year period. 21-hydroxylase deficiency was present in 42 patients (89.3%), the simple virilizing form in 6 and the salt-losing form in 36 of them. 11b hydroxylase deficiency was present in 5 patient...
متن کاملLong term psychological outcome for women with congenital adrenal hyperplasia: cross sectional survey.
Management of conditions associated with intersex, such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia, is controversial. A recent editorial in the BMJ called for long term studies of outcome. Females (genotype XX) with congenital adrenal hyperplasia are born with ambiguous genitalia, have feminising genitoplasty soon after birth, and often have repeated genital surgery and genital examinations in adolescen...
متن کاملPrenatal Diagnosis and Treatment of Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia is a group of inherited disorders caused by an enzyme deficiency in steroid biosynthesis. The most common form of congenital adrenal hyperplasia is 21-hydroxylase deficiency, which in its severe form can cause genital ambiguity in females. Steroid 21-hydroxylase deficiency can be diagnosed in utero through molecular genetic analysis of fetal DNA. Prenatal treatmen...
